Asylum Escape
Hey everyone today we wanted to tell you all about the game that got all of this started, Asylum Escape!
Dive into the Asylum with 3-7 people, where most of you play as “Victims”, innocent bystanders trying to survive. Meanwhile 1 of you plays as the deranged and experimented upon “Patients” that get released over the course of the game due to power failure of the cell’s locking mechanisms. You’ll have 9 harrowing turns to try to survive but be careful, people tend to do the unforgiveable when their life is on the line! Betray your friends and trust no one.
As you play through the game you’ll notice 3 decks of cards through out the game.
Movement - Draw these to see how many spaces you’ll move, but be careful since you have a chance to stumble into the nearest patient!
Camo/Sabo - This deck is your main deck. This deck contains both camouflage cards (To help you stay hidden), or sabotage cards (To make others more easily caught or killed.) These cards go into your hand and can be played when opportunity strikes!
Bloodlust - This is the only “Patient” Deck. Once per turn, if they do not kill someone, they draw from this deck to… shall we say… shake things up a bit.
The goal is simple enough… survive 9 turns. How you accomplish this feat is up to you. Will you use your Camo cards to save your skin. Or sabotage cards to fry the others like bacon? No matter what you choose as long as you live, right?
Be careful, as for every new Patient or kill a Patient performs, the Asylum grows smaller. More chaotic.
Can you stay hidden long enough to make it out? Or will your succumb to the violent tendencies of the experimental Patients? Find out. Open the box.
Now lets talk about those Characters
Victims will have 2 effects on their card, one will be positive and one will be a negative effect. Talk openly at the table about these effects before the game begins, so everyone can hold each other accountable.
Patients will have numbers on the top of the card, this is what they need to roll in order to kill you (Known as their “Killing Roll” or “Catch Roll”), they will also have the room they need to spawn into, and some of them might even have an effect they could use during the game.
Once everyone has chosen who they’ll play, it’s time to choose which room you’ll want to hide in (Victims), and you’ll notice that some rooms also have effects. Some are permanent and some are a 1 time use so don’t forget to make use of them.
So what does a normal turn look like?
Immediately, you’ll go into the Draw phase, where you decide which deck you want to draw from. If the killer is close, you may want to draw movement or if you’re feeling a bit safer, opt for drawing something from the Camo/Sabo deck to add to your hand.
After the draw phase, the play phase allows you to play any cards allowed from your hand. (Symbols will dictate when you’re allowed to play each card) Otherwise you can choose to end your turn if desired.
The Patients turn is a bit more straight forward. They flip a coin for movement. (Heads moves 1 and tails moves 2.) As they move through the rooms, if they pass through your room, you’ve been caught. This forces them to roll to see if they killed you. If they didn’t kill anyone on their turn, they get to draw a bloodlust card which could have different effects to make the game a bit more chaotic.
And that’s the game in a very simplified version. As you actually play, you’ll develop strategies to help plan out your moves and decide whether its worth playing a card or if its better to hold off to save yourself.
That’s our little look into the game of Asylum Escape, stay tuned on our social media for more updates as we get closer to it’s Kickstarter Launch in Q3 2026 along with more updates on our next project Pin & Paranormal with more to come about that is its developed.
